Welcome to Beta Chapter

Chartered on January 30, 1941, Beta Chapter enrolled 15 key women educators as charter members. The chapter is part of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International that promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education throughout the world.

Currently, forty-five women from all levels of education (kindergarten through college) make up the membership of Beta Chapter. President Ann Braaten teaches at NDSU; Linda Fricker and Jo Cavins, first and second vice-presidents, respectively, NDSU; Debbie Boyer, secretary, West Fargo Public School; and Collette Folstad, Treasurer, retiree from West Fargo Middle School.

Beta Chapter provides leadership and service opportunities. Several members hold office or committee assignments in Alpha Omicron State and several have had committee appointments at the International. The chapter offers a scholarship to attain an advanced degree, a music camp scholarship for junior high students, and a recruitment grant to a high school graduate choosing to major in education.

Service to women and children takes a high priority in chapter projects. For many years, Beta Chapter has donated items and volunteered time at the YWCA Women's Shelter. The chapter supports the Expanding Your Horizons program for girls and the Tri-College New Leadership Conference through monetary gifts, time, and promotion.

In February, members met at Zandbroz Variety for a late afternoon meeting and then attended A Celebration of Women and Their Music at the Fargo Theater. The March meeting featured Sharon Miller, NDSU, speaking on Finding Your Passion in Today's Job Market. An April meeting is planned for the Comstock House in Moorhead and in May members will tour the Charism Center.
